Bethany Christian held their fundraiser at the Meriwether Golf Course last night and it turned out to be a really nice evening. They had asked if we could be the guest speaker's some time ago (after the earthquake occurred) and so we were able to use our video and then just gave a quick update on Samuel's adjustment, etc... I have to say I wasn't completely "up" for the task when we left the house (coming off a day at work, etc...) But usually I know in my head that these things are always worthwhile and fun when you look back on them. And it was for a good cause - adoption (which I whole-heartedly support...)
It was a nice venue... and given we were having a 75 degree Portland day - everyone was in good spirits! We were a bit concerned about Samuel (if he would be able to hold-out for the whole evening without getting too fussy) but Bethany wanted him to attend the event, so we reluctantly said "ok." But Samuel did AWESOME! I was so proud of him... Carrie (our Bethany rep) had brought him a bag of goodies and a booster seat (she saved our bacon!) And he literally sat in his chair and/or was "still" while we held him upfront for 2.5 hours! What a good kid...
It was fun because there ended up being relatives of one of the 81 GLA kids (lives in Chicago) who was on the plane with Joe and Samuel coming out of Haiti! So it was fun to meet them and share stories.
