We had a really pleasant day.
The community we are in is a well-planned one (it's only a couple of years old - and still being built-out.) It's called Verrado and there are houses, a school, golf club and quaint little town (coffee shop, grocery store, Italian restaurant, wine bar and recreation center.) It also has a great trail that goes around the community. So we started off the morning with a run on the trail (with Bob, of course!) We saw jack-rabbits, lizards, hummingbirds, a coyote, quail... oh and a few humans & dogs too! The desert is beautiful as far as we are concerned... The town sits right up against the hills and is really pretty.
Then we hopped in the car and drove into the town for a latte/mocha (though we now know our path to jogging there & back in the morning.) It was a great little coffee shop - the kind that you wish you could own... they are friendly and seem to know all the locals well. And even though we are completely addicted to the flavor of Starbucks, this wasn't too bad. We will be back! :-)
We then drove around the community/houses - to get a feel for the area. Very nice.
And then? We hit the pool and pretty much remained there all day. We played in the water, enjoyed the hot tub, read, listened to the iPod on speakers and just enjoyed our time together! Joe did make a quick escape to Wal-Mart to get us a pool lounger blow-up thingy - but that was about all for excitement! :-) Tonight, we grilled kabobs and enjoyed asparagus with some special bread. Now? Joe is watching the LA/Phoenix game while Samuel plays with kitchen utensils (no better toy has been invented!)
And I am just at peace and glad we booked this vacation...
Our run with "Bob" on the trail...
We found the work-out stations along the way and tried to to them (it was quite hilarious!)
Sam LOVED the hot tub, that is for certain...
Ah... Peace and quiet. It's like we are in the desert by ourselves with this view.
Joe's Wal-Mart purchase
Playing with kitchen utensils tonight
