7 Haitian Children Playin' in Oregon!

Tonight was a really nice way to spend an evening... It's always "tough" to plan events after a long week (and a long day at work) but in retrospect, we are so glad we got to be a part of this gathering!

There were 5 families and 7 Haitian children... We are all connected via Haitian adoption (6 of the 7 kids were from God's Littlest Angels orphanage) and many of those relationships all started with Facebook, blogs or emails via the GLA connection. So it has been really fun to develop those friendships - and now get to spend face-to-face time with them.

We had planned the get-together a few weeks ago, as Tuttle's were going to be in town, staying with the Osborne's. So Alicia contacted the Olson's and Wilkins via Facebook to make this even happen (thank-you Alicia!) We enjoyed letting the kids run around and play while we visited. We met at Champoeg State Park (a really nice setting) around 5:30pm and just enjoyed a Friday evening...

It was nice sharing stories - and fun that Samuel got to meet some other Haitian kids.  We all have unique stories, but also have been through similar life experiences.  We are also "different" people, but share so much in common.  It's nice to know our kids came from the same place, were brought up the same way - and also show similar characteristics.  We shared the good and the bad of it all...  which was refreshing!

We found that Jacob took a serious liking to Samuel, so that was really sweet. They also look like they could be brothers - it was almost too much of a coincidence! And they are both from the same area in Haiti  - HMMMM....  :-)

A nice evening for certain.

Your story is amezing. I hope that you don't mind me following in your journey with Samuel? I just watched the slide show of "arournd the orphanage and Haiti" it was such a touching story it made me just bawl. Samuel is one lucky little boy to have you guys as parents.
