It was a spontaneous decision… made on our walk home from Starbucks this morning. We decided to head to the Oregon Coast because it was a nice day and we hadn't yet taken Samuel. For those of you not from the NW – our “beach” is called the “coast” because we typically don’t do “beachy/sunny” things at our beach. It is usually the kind of place you go to be near a warm fire, put puzzles together and enjoy sipping hot chocolate while watching it storm outside (don't get me wrong - it is incredible scenery and we love it - it's just not Hawaii weather!) So we were quite amazed when we could wear shorts and a t-shirt (even I wore a short-sleeve, which is a RARE occasion at any time!)
It was a lovely day… We had the best time and enjoyed hanging out and playing in the water and sand. We also took in some shops and enjoyed lunch in town…. It was BUSY, but it actually made the day sort of fun. With the economy what it is, sometimes places seem a bit “ghostly” and that was not the case today. We also ran into our friends Ina, Joe and Ava, so that was a fun happening (and odd given we had just FINALLY made plans to get together next Sunday – after not seeing them for months!)
First time near a horse! He was funny - he said "no" and shook his finger at the horse when he got too close!
We just got his shoes off and he loved the feeling of the sand. Not quite Kauai, but good enough for today!
The foot shot: It had to be done.
First Time in the Oregon Coast water! BRRRR...
Haystack Rock
Running from the COLD OCEAN WATER (honestly!) :-)
Here we are world... TOGETHER!
Good Joe... hauling water for Samuel.
Teamwork!
Chasing seagulls!
Samuel even got to fly a kite!
He loved it!
Shops in town
The trip home: one tired out little guy!
