If you have been following our adoption paperwork saga… you know there have been a lot of hiccups and little issues along the way. And when we submitted this last stack of papers, we were just hoping we had done it all correctly (basically representing ourselves in court.) So when there was a message on our home phone yesterday, from the court house – saying to “call them back about some paperwork questions”, I immediately sighed figured something was wrong with what we had sent in (this is for US re-adoption so that we can get a US birth certificate and be able to apply for a SSN and passport.)
But I was completely relieved when I called back this morning because the kind woman just wanted to let me know that the self-addressed stamped envelope we had sent was a little small to fit the certificate. She said it was a really “pretty” document and she didn’t think we would want it folded in half. So she had just called to see if I wanted to re-send a bigger envelope!
See… nice people who care. They do exist! J
This also means that our paperwork is FINAL! And it has been signed by the judge and we should be getting our birth certificate in the mail soon! Which means the SSN and passport will probably happen in the next couple of months. So... while it took a year to accomplish - I think we are finally almost there! YAY!
So happy for you! You have been sooo patient!
