Enjoying the Winter Sunshine

It isn't often I enjoy being outside in cold temperatures (I have what is called Raynaud's disease, which is a circulatory disorder and causes me to lose feeling/color in my fingers and toes.) It is miserable. However I "took one for the Wilkins Team" these past 2 days so that we could venture outside and enjoy the sunny days that we have left of our vacation days.

Yesterday, while in the car running errands, Joe decided we should head to the airport and let Samuel watch his favorite: AIRLPLANES! So we did! We headed up to the top level of the parking garage and watched for awhile. Samuel loved it, even though it was REALLY COLD. :-)

And for some odd reason, I had the idea to go to the zoo today (even though it was 30 degrees out.) I just wanted to do something as a family while we still had time at home - and the sun was shining! So we bundled up and headed out the door for the opening at 10am. We spent a couple hours there and saw almost every exhibit. It was great as there were hardly any people there, so we could get right up front and see all the animals up close! Fortunately there were some warm-up areas like the tropical bird house, the naked mole hole (which smelled awful and even Samuel said he wanted to "get out") and the Serengeti exhibit or I would have never made it! :-) I was FREEZING!  However, we had a fun time and I am really glad we went!
