11 Days Old...

We have enjoyed our time at home thus far and we are working to figure out a schedule that works for us... we are getting there. My mom left yesterday, which means more adjustments (she was an absolute blessing to help us get through those initial days!) Joe's parents are heading over tomorrow to meet the little guy... I know they can't wait. :-)

Mom brought over Joe's b-day presents early (his b-day is on the 24th) so we had a little celebration before she left... (see pictures.)

We are doing pretty well on sleep... Joe helps with diaper changes and Luke (if fed around midnight) will stay asleep until 3am or so... and then he is up at 6am. So I get 2 sleep sessions during the night. I have always been an 9-hour-sleep-kinda-girl, so this is definitely testing me. However, I think I am actually doing quite well, given the adjustment. When I look into Luke's little eyes, I certainly am not frustrated at losing sleep. :-) AND, the biggest part of this for me is probably knowing I don't have to get up and go to work. I have really never known what that feels like - and I have to say when I am up at 3am, I feel "okay" because I know I don't have to be "on" for a work project, meeting or presentation, etc... I am so glad Joe and I can be home this summer to get things figured out!

Luke is doing well - he is really eating well now and gaining good weight. The doctor is pleased with his progress - whew!

  2. Just remember, when you think you have the baby's schedule figured out, the baby goes and changes it on you. Glad things are going well. love, Karen

No big deal if you can't make it to the park on Saturday...you just had a baby, I totally understand. (I e-mailed you)
    Congratulations.
