We have struggled with Samuel's wheezing for over a year now, and the doctor agreed that it might be more than just an infection/RSV. So she gave us a prescription for an inhaler that we can try when he has another attack. I was so relieved to get this! I truly hope Samuel doesn't have asthma, but if he does, we should know after using the inhaler...
Samuel was SO GOOD for the appointment (which was pretty involved - much more than I thought it would be.) He had 2 different eye tests (and got to wear cool glasses!), weight/height measurements, breathing tests, jumping tests, etc... And, he also got a flu shot today! He was also able to try out his asthma breathing apparatus (for kids.)
1) Both his height and weight are in the 10th percentile (29 lbs, 36.5 height) so he is still "little" but tracking to his own chart just fine.
2) The doc said that he did really well during his eye test and that they are also checking for other things during that test - like taking directions from strangers, knowing shapes, etc... She said he passed with flying colors and wanted us to know that not all 3-year-olds can do that yet. So we felt good about that!
3) He did so well doing what the nurse and doctor asked... WHEW. I am always paranoid about those things. I imagined Samuel having a major meltdown in front of us and everyone thinking what a problem child we had (or what bad parents we are!)
However, we had them all fooled, as the bribing paid off this time! (insert evil grin here!) We told him if he was good, we could get French Fries at the pub (BAD PARENTS, I KNOW!) But he definitely earned our offer... And he thoroughly enjoyed the fries - while remaining well-behaved in the pub - and even said THANK YOU to the waitress without being prompted! (We are working on looking people in the eyes, answering their questions and using please/thank-you.)
