If you were one of the GLA "Haiti 80" families, that was blessed to be able to bring your child home "early" due to the Haiti earthquake, please take time to read. I didn't have all 80 email addresses, so looking to reach-out however I can. Thanks!
Dear GLA “Haiti 80” Families,
As a fellow adoptive GLA parent and member of the GLA board of directors, I wanted to reach out and ask for your help with a special, upcoming project for GLA. As you may or may not be aware, GLA is facing some financial challenges as they take in more children, help kids go to school and continue to support the surrounding community. This group of people has a unique opportunity to help make a difference.
As we quickly approach the 2nd anniversary of the Haiti earthquake, there will be an opportunity to remind people that Haiti/GLA needs our continued help & support. Since the GLA “Haiti 80” families were directly (and deeply) impacted on January 12th, 2010, we thought this project would give you the chance to share some updates on your child(ren), while also reminding others there is still great need in Haiti.
With that, I would like to ask that you consider doing one or more of the following for the 2nd anniversary:
• Share “then” and “now” pictures and/or video.
• Write up something describing your individual adoption/earthquake story.
• Write up a testimony of the difference that GLA has made in the lives of you and your family.
The plan is to create a “Haiti 80 Recollections” page on the GLA blog that will go live at 4:53 pm on January 12, 2012.
*PLEASE NOTE*: We can publish as much or as little personal information in the blog as your are comfortable sharing with the public. Please specify your requests when you send your information.
We would like to ask that you compile/write-up your information and send it to Tom Vanderwell no later than December 15th: tom@glahaiti.org
We have all been blessed and touched by the lives of some very special Haitian children, so helping GLA get the resources to bring together more “forever families” is something I hope you will embrace. I believe together we can make a difference. Thank you for your support of this project – it is deeply appreciated!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me (or Tom.)
Blessings,
Jill Wilkins
