Today we took a class at church on raising babies/toddlers - it was time well-spent. We discussed praying for our children, talking about God and setting the right example (you want them to have a heart for God and love others, yet we prioritize getting them on the best soccer team vs. spending time doing things that would instill Biblical values in them, etc...) It was nice to meet some other couples at the same life-stage we are facing (even though we are clearly WAY older than most of them!) :-) There is one more class next week...
Then today I went to the store and got some items for an orphanage in Haiti Espwa Berlancia (http://www.espwaberlancia.org/) It made my heart happy to do something for someone else. We met Rhyan (director) via GLA, as she was a long-term volunteer there; she was the one actually holding Samuel when the earthquake hit in Haiti, so we have a special connection with her. She sent me a specific list of things they needed, and we felt good to be able to help out. It's something very tangible and meaningful for us... When I got home, Samuel helped me pack it up in a box. He also added one of his toy airplanes for a little boy, which made my heart so full!
Then Joe and I took turns going on a 20-mintue run. Not much, but one of our goals is to give each other time to work-out, even if just for a short run. It felt really good to get outside and enjoy the fall day and leaves... And we are on our way to meeting one of our goals!
