Monday: Organized Chaos

JOE UPDATE:
First thing is first!  Joe is at GLA safe and sound! He is having some issues with his phone, so we have been talking and trying to resolve that today w/ AT&T (can't believe how many times we talked today with no other topic than phone issues.)  Crazy...  I knew more about his phone issues than I did how his trip was going.

He is staying at the Guest House this week, which is up the hill from the Main House (and had dinner there as well, so he hasn’t seen many people at GLA yet.) He did find out he will be working at Ft. Jacques (new orphanage) while he is in Haiti, and will actually move up there (staying overnight) next week. I am very glad to know he is safe! And hopefully he will also have access to wireless soon… Pictures are food for the soul when you miss someone.

Tonight... this is how I feel:  I Don't Know How She Does it

We collectively got it together for school this morning (thank you Kendra and Jennifer!), but it felt like bags were flying, babies were crying and work badges were left behind… And then there was the doctor’s appt. at 1pm (Luke’s follow-up ear appt.) I was scrambling to pick him up, smile for the doctor, and get him back to school… I didn’t make it to the “office” – instead I opted for the nearest Starbucks with free wireless and worked for 3 hours. Then I picked up some groceries from the store, got the boys, went home and made dinner, which seemed to help us all feel a bit better!  The girls had most of the dinner cleanup duty (those dollars are calling!) so that was helpful for sure!  And they are such good helpers and good people (thanks to my sister who has raised them right, and thanks to the girls for being who they are!)

PAUSE.. SIGH… BREATHE…

Then the girls and I took the boys + BOBs for a walk to the park. I have to admit I didn’t feel like going at first, but once we were there, we all had a great time.

And then is was a mad scramble to get Luke changed, cleaned… bottle ready. Then get Samuel changed, get stories read and say prayers… (only to have him calling my name “MOMMY” a few minutes ago, as he is obviously hearing the girls and feeling “left out!”)

So it’s a bit of “organized chaos” right now – but that is to be expected when your husband is in Haiti for 2 weeks, right? J And the girls are doing great – working hard, helping also and also just good company…

  1. Jill, I was just reading about Joe's trip to GLA. It is wonderful that he is going! Tell him to be on the look out for a sweet girl for us :) We are adopting again and we are waiting for a referral!
The kids and I are coming to Portland at the end of July, I'd love to get together if it works out.
