Love Friday's!

...especially the Friday before Christmas!!! :-)

Samuel got to make a little gingerbread house (well, graham crackers over a milk carton) at school today.  What a great way to make these with kids - easy and the milk carton gives it stability.  He did such a great job and we were very proud of him.   And... right at this moment, he is sitting next to me eating it!  :-)

Bummer for today? Our beautiful Christmas tree went bad - totally dry (and I mean totally.) I guess it was our fault for having those nice, warm fires going... At any rate, we couldn't have everyone over for Christmas with a dried up tree, so Joe packed it up and took it outside. Fortunately, we still have the stand-by "fake" version, so I re-decorated that one. WHAT A PAIN. But I am glad we did it. So much for going back to the "real" tree... Hmmph...

Of course Samuel noticed that the tree had changed when he got home: "why did you add yellow lights to the tree?" That kid notices EVERYTHING.

Speaking of noticing things (or maybe tinges of OCD), this morning, as I was changing Luke's diaper, he acted like he wanted to grab something (like the powder or diaper cream.) So I put him down and he immediately went to "close" the cover of the wipes - then he clapped and smiled. And then he proceeded to fix all of the handles on the drawers (they were flipped up.) And if that weren't enough - as soon as we walked past the stairs, he said "uh-oh" and closed the baby gate. Funny little baby...
