For my "Samuel" shower (a few months ago) my mom had given me a gift of a family photography session with my dad's cousin (who also lives in Portland: http://www.josephoto.com/) So today was finally the day of our appointment! The weather was fantastic and we were AMAZED at his beautiful 2-acres of property. It is like a little oasis in Portland with water features, flowers, grassy areas, and trees. And even more important was his ability to work with kids (Samuel to be exact!) He just let him sort of dictate where we went on the property and what pictures to take. I think there are going to be some really good/fun ones, so we are both excited to see them! AND what was fun is that we got a couple of "sneak peak" pics for Joe's b-day via email!
Then... tonight we arranged for our babysitter to stay with Samuel - as we went to our friend's house and celebrated Joe's 39th b-day with 3 other couples. We had a really nice time and a scrumptious dinner! I put together a slide-show from "over the years" and we just enjoyed hanging out with really good company. We definitely missed Samuel, but also knew that he was being spoiled at home. :-) I think the hardest part was when we were putting on our shoes, getting ready to go and Samuel came out of his room carrying his sandals saying "shoes, shoes... outside?" BREAK MY HEART! But we got home to a soundly sleeping toddler all tucked into bed.
