School: Monday's update 8-16-10

Update from Samuel’s teacher…  this will be his first FULL day at school!  He is in the “turtle” room.  J  Quite appropriate as he loves turtles (he learned they are “honu’s” in Kauai and now calls them both.)

I won’t always post these updates, but thought it would be good to share the first one.  I think it is great that the teacher’s send out these updates to the parents!  She also left Joe a phone message and said Samuel cried for a couple of minutes when he left, but was fine once they started playing.

Dear Parents,

Today is a wonderful day! I am sooo glad to be back. The wedding was spectacular! I missed all of you. I would like to welcome Samuel to our classroom along with his parents Joe and Jill. The children had a lot to tell me since i have been back. U talked to be about tinker bell and Cinderella. She showed me her doll and Barbie she loves so much! She even fixed my hair and gave me a beautiful hair due. A helped making my hair pretty. A talked about the park and playing with mommy and daddy. J played with pegs and than put on dress up shoes. R was jumping outside a lot and sliding down slides. M showed me her pretty green dress and built a large tower out of pegs. E threw balls in the baskets in the gym. K enjoyed reading books today. K showed the class her teddy bear. It's so soft and cuddly. Samuel really loves curious George and air planes. This afternoon we will be making large bubbles as a class. Than playing with puzzles before gym time. Today was tumble bus, the children were so excited.

P.S. The turtle and penguin rooms were hoping to do water play this Wednesday. So if you could please bring in a towel, and bathing suit for your child. We are going to have so much fun with a sprinkler, hose, water table, and squirt bottles!
Love, The Turtles!

NEW ADD-ON:
For those of you who would like to hear more... his teacher just commented (yay!)  It's so nice to have details.  Thanks so much Pamela!

Hi Joe and Jill, it's Pam Samuels teacher. I wanted to write you both to tell you a little about Samuels day. After daddy left this morning, he cried for about a minute. As he was crying i walked him over to the window because dad told me he loves the outdoors. So, i asked him if he can see any pretty birds? He stopped crying, looked, and said, "No." I asked him if he could see butterflies? He looked and smiled. I than brought him over to the helicopters and asked him which one he liked. He pointed to the biggest one and grabbed it. We played with the air planes and helicopters for awhile. We ate snack, washed up, sunscreen, potty,, and outside. He went on the tumble bus. Hew loved it. He engaged in the activities and observed the other children. His favorite was the trampoline. In the gym he was getting pretty tired. So he mostly observed everyone else. At lunch he was wonderful. He has manners! What a good boy. When he was done he threw away his plate and cup. He even went right up to me held out his hands, i told him he may wash his hands and that is exactly what he did next. He came up to me with a questioned little face. I new he didn't know what to do next. I told him it's time to pick out a book and lay down on your mat. I walked him over to his cub by and handed him his blanket. He sorta looked sad. I found a stuffed animal because in his info papers it mentioned a lion he sleeps with. I asked him if he likes curious George. He nodded yes so i gave him one. HE LOVES IT! I than read, "The Three Bears." (We read a book to the children before nap.) I than laid next to him and rubbed his stomach which he preferred over his back. After awhile i went to lunch and Sherrie took over rubbing him to sleep. He is now sleeping. He has gotten all of us teachers to adore him so much. What a sweet little precious boy. I am so happy to have him in my classroom. I hope you two have a wonderful afternoon. Samuel and his friends will be making large bubbles together!

Love, Mrs. Pam
