We had a “celebration Sunday” of both Mother’s Day and Samuel’s Birthday (we have a hospital class tomorrow night, so figured we should celebrate Samuel’s birthday one day early!) Joe started it off by going to Starbucks for me, and then we all headed to church (Samuel’s last day in the “Two’s Room!) We then went to the store for some requested "big boy underwear" - in red. And then came home and made a cake together (I guess this is turning into the annual tradition.) Joe is working on building a popsicle bridge for his classroom, so Samuel provided "guidance and oversight" for that project for a few minutes before heading down for a nap. Joe then took my car and had it washed/cleaned (yay!) And when Samuel woke up...? It was BIRTHDAY TIME! Samuel really does enjoy the process of opening presents and he is so patient to wait until it is time to do so. And then tonight, Joe built us a fire (yes in May – it’s cold here!), then he BBQ’d dinner for us - and we all finished with cake!
I was thinking back to last year – it was a warm and sunny day and we celebrated outside (I remember it was a very special day, as we had him HOME for this birthday!) And even though today was full of showers (a few sun breaks here and there)… it was still a really fun day and we still feel so blessed by this kid!
Happy 3rd birthday dear Samuel… we love you very much!
Oh... and the "big boy" requested underwear attempt was not successful... at least not on this day... BIG BUMMER... but I guess it was worth a shot.

Happy Birthday Samuel! From Brady, Heidi, Trey and Janay!
