A Few Favorite Pics (and quick status update below pics)

I was able to go off the magnesium and remove the catheter and IV today (YAY!) I haven't been mobile which has made the "after" delivery process tough, but I am getting discharged tomorrow, so that is good (in terms of my health.) It was one long night last night - just having to be checked, re-checked and have fluids changed all night long (sleep was pretty limited.) But an on/off 4 hours is still better than pulling an all-nighter like the previous one! (smile)

The bad news is that Luke won't be going home with us, which is really hard. He is still in the NICU and we aren't sure of how long he will have to remain there... His blood sugar is still not steady and he is having issues just staying warm on his own. So, my visions of leaving the hospital as a family aren't quite playing out as planned. But we also know we want him to be healthy and truly ready to come home before we attempt to care for him without the support of any hospital staff. I have to admit it's been pretty hard to hear all the other little babies in the rooms with their parents, while we are alone in ours, without him. SIGH... We have been visiting the NICU several times a day and my mom even got to go with us today.

My dad headed home today, but my mom is here to help us out... (thanks mom!) Joe also got out of the hospital today to take Samuel to school (it was good for him to have a little dad-time today - even if short.) He then brought Samuel by the hospital to visit me. The first thing he did was look around the room and say "where's Luke, where did Luke go?" That just made my heart happy...

Will keep you posted on Luke - once we have some more information.

  1. Jill,
He is soo handsome. I remember having to leave the hospital without CeNedra. The only thing harder was leaving Haiti without Remy and Erlande. Praying for him, to get healthy quickly. For you, to be recovered and ready when he is to come home. For Samuel to adjust smoothly. Congratulation!!
