Luke: 6/30 Update

First item: Thank you so much for all of your thoughts, prayers and comments. We get all of them and have been so encouraged - thank you for that...

I was discharged from the hospital today... but it was hard to leave. We were with Luke in the NICU until midnight on Wednesday, then headed to bed and got about 6 hours of sleep (the nurse left me alone all night, which was so nice!) We ordered breakfast, then spent the morning in the NICU again. We then went through the discharge process and headed home. Samuel was SO happy to see us - and it was good to be in our home environment again, but VERY hard to leave the hospital knowing Luke was there.

We headed back to the NICU for his 5pm feeding. When we arrived back home, mom had dinner all ready and waiting for us (what a treat!) Tonight we have been giving Samuel some love and just taking it easy. Joe and I will head back to the hospital around 10:30pm for his 11pm feeding tonight.

Luke got moved to another NICU wing this afternoon... they are trying to lower his fluids and wean him off of heat lamps, etc.. to see how he will do on his own. Unfortunately, his blood-sugar is still not where it needs to be on a consistent basis and he isn't eating enough (he tends to fall asleep.)

What a precious baby he is... I just wish we could be snuggling him and sharing those first few days together at home...

  1. Hi guys, This brings back so many memories, i know what your feeling Jill and i pray all the time that Luke will come home really soon. It's so hard to see him lying in the table under the heat and Joe looking so worried. I just want you all to know it WILL get better, he will be home with you very soon, God gives us miracles and answers prayers every day!! Love and hugs to all!

  3. Hang in there! So many folks praying for you all, and for Luke specifically. Having a child in NICU is tough, but it's draining, both emotionally and physcially. Glad your mom is there to help, and I know you draw strength from God to deal with anything that comes along. He hears our prayers and I know He is walking with you through this.

Be strong in the Lord and take courage.... It is soo hard to have a little one in NICU. It brings tears to my eyes. I remember Mabel being that one and seeing pictures of Luke brings it all back. I know its tough, but I also know God will strengthen you to walk through this. I don't understand why? But I do know that God is with you and baby. He is absolutely beautiful.. you make beautiful children.. :) I can't wait to see the pictures of you taking him home! We are praying (all of us) Read Psalm 139.... Trust in the Lord with all your heart. We love you so much, big hug to sam too... xo k
