It was SO good to be home last night... to be with family and be able to sleep in our own bed. And more importantly knowing that Luke is well-enough to be home with us! We actually got some decent sleep last night (anything was going to be better than 2-3 hours per night at the hospital...)
My nephew Jeff, was also at our house (he is going home to stay with my parents, so we were able to see him before they left this morning.)
Joe just dropped Samuel off at school, so it's just the three of us now. We just gave Luke his antibiotics, called his doctor for a follow-up on Thursday and will just try to catch our breath today. We are still watching him closely, taking his temperature and just trying to avoid any relapses.
What an experience... emotional, physical, etc... We appreciated the doctors and nurses at Emanuel SO MUCH - but sure hope we won't have to see them anytime soon!
I was thinking of all that Luke went through: ER "wait", IV in his arm, spinal tap, ambulance ride, 2 x-rays, blood draws, high fever for days, bad diaper rash, arm board, catheter, and a VCUG procedure. Not to mention being woken up every 2 hours for vitals. Poor thing... I think he enjoyed sleeping last night!
Thank You again for all of your thoughts and prayers this past week. It meant so much to us, just knowing we had people out there, who were willing to help us out and pray.
Oh... and today, little baby Luke is 6 weeks old!
