Remember Jolt Cola...

I need some of that right about now...

I picked the kids up from daycare yesterday and was told Luke had a fever, but it was not quite bad enough to get a call for early pickup (whew!) So I was thinking today might be a rough day for Luke. But as it turned out, it was Samuel who had all the problems. Last night I think I got not much more than 3 hours of sleep. Samuel could not breathe (the wheezing/asthma thing) and he was scared. It was probably the worst I have seen it and I was concerned too. We tried everything - even a hot shower (steam) at 1am. He was up most of the night with really strained breathing. I considered taking him to the ER, but then he finally went sleep...

This morning he was still breathing hard, but it was better. I did the inhaler and took him to school, thinking he would probably be okay (it hasn't ever lasted this long before.) But around 9am I got the call to come pick him up as his breathing was really hard and he was crying and upset. SIGH... [why does Joe have to be gone during these episodes, I ask?] :-( So I called the doctor and they told me to get right in and they would see him.

They had to put him through 2 nebulizer sessions + steroids. He did so well and it was kind of nice to be able to hang out with him - just the two of us. So he now has some prescription steroids and we will go back for a follow-up next week. He certainly is MUCH better this afternoon (other than banging his head into the doctor's office door as we were leaving!)  I let him have some chicken nuggets at BK because he needed a little "perk" in his day.

And now... I must get some work done.
I am I tired-out and so very glad it's FRIDAY!

  1. Poor baby (and Mommy too), it is so hard when they cannot breathe. I wonder if it is too early for allergy shots. His daddy had them and it worked for many years. At least until he moved away from Bend.
