July 1: Luke Update

We had some good progress today! His blood-sugar has been high on every check today... He is staying warm even after taking him off the heat lamps AND they tested taking him off the sugar/IV today and he still has been testing okay. He still is having issues eating (he falls asleep and has problems getting enough food.) But we saw the pediatrician while we were there today, so we were able to chat with her some more - she is truly hoping that he hangs in there and "might" be able to come home THIS WEEKEND... however, there are still a lot of "ifs" and we will just have to see. But she said she hoped the next time we see her would be in her office next week vs. the NICU. She also said the his concern over jaundice is not an issue (though borderline, she doesn't believe this is causing any problems.)

Mom and I went in to see his this morning while Joe took Samuel to run some errands. Mom enjoyed being able to spend some time with him and see how he was doing. Joe and I went back for his 5pm feeding and will go back again for the 11pm one too. We just want to be with him... wish it could be more, but it's such a balancing act in making sure Samuel feels loved too. But if we can get Luke home soon - that will be such a relief!
