Joe and I both stayed in the room with Luke last night. We took turns sleeping and each got about 3 hours. It was nice to work as a team - just being able to take a break was nice (as was having each other for company.)
Joe left around 7am this morning to get Samuel, drop him off with Hayden and Shannon to “play” for a few hours (THANK YOU GUYS!) This will allow my folks to have another break. And thanks again to Curry’s (Hannah especially) for being there for us/Samuel yesterday afternoon. Samuel is pretty energized right now, with all that is going on. His routines are messed up, he isn’t seeing us regularly and hasn’t been sleeping like he should (so we really hope he won’t be overwhelming anyone this week!) J

SIDEBAR COMMENT:
We cannot thank everyone enough for offering to help with Samuel (or in other ways) - this means so much, as it's hard to balance everything right now, especially not knowing our timeline for going home. So we are just taking this one day at a time.

LUKE UPDATE
Last night Luke’s temperature hung around 100-101… we had one reading at 99, but the most recent (10 minutes ago) was at 100.5. So really – there hasn’t been much of an improvement like the doctor hoped to see (assuming it was bacterial.) He was checked every 2 hours or so last night, as they are administering 2 antibiotics and checking his vitals.
Not sure what today will hold. We hope to get the results from the kidney/bladder ultrasound, but other than that – I guess it’s just more waiting.
I do want to mention perspective, of which we are trying to remember all of the time. We got word that 2 premature twin girls at GLA (Samuel’s orphanage) who were admitted on August 1st, both died (despite GLA best efforts to get them healthy.) This just breaks my heart. You can read more on the story here, if interested: http://godslittlestangelsinhaiti.org/andlifegoeson/ (scroll down to see the background, starting on Aug. 1st.)
We know we are blessed to be in the USA, with incredible medical equipment and resources… and to remember that Luke, in comparison to so many, is healthy. He is sleeping soundly in his crib right now, allowing me to catch my breath a bit…
